In this article, you’ll learn how to handle requests for changing booking dates, whether the booking is already accepted or confirmed, along with the steps required to manage these scenarios efficiently.
As an Owner, you cannot modify the booking dates yourself; this action must be initiated by the Traveller. Below, we outline two scenarios based on the status of the booking: accepted or confirmed.
Changing the dates of an accepted booking
If the Traveller wants to modify the dates of a booking that has been accepted but not yet confirmed:
- The Traveller must select the ‘Edit dates’ option on the booking page.
- The request will be automatically updated and sent directly to you for review.
- You will have 48 hours to respond by either accepting or declining the request.
- If you accept the request, the Traveller will be able to proceed with payment to confirm the booking with the updated dates.
- If you decline or fail to respond within 48 hours, the booking request will expire.
Changing the dates of a confirmed booking
Before the booking starts
If the Traveller wants to modify the dates of a confirmed booking before the trip begins:
- The Traveller must select the ‘Request date change’ option on the booking page.
- They can propose new dates, which will be sent directly to you for review.
- You will have 48 hours to accept or decline the request:
- If you accept, the booking will automatically be updated with the new dates.
- If you decline or fail to respond within the given timeframe, the booking dates will remain unchanged.
During the booking
In case of emergencies, such as a breakdown, unforeseen circumstances, or a change of plans, the Traveller should contact our Support Team through the Help Centre. We will manually adjust the dates to ensure that the entire length of the trip remains covered by your hire insurance.
