In this article, you'll learn where the money goes before it's sent to you, how to verify your account to receive payouts, and how Goboony ensures payments are handled safely.
When a Traveller makes a payment, it goes to our trusted payment partner, Stripe.
We set up a separate account with Stripe for you and the Traveller to keep the money safe.
Before we can send you a payout, you'll need to verify your account. This means uploading a clear copy of your ID, passport, or driver's licence. Don't worry, we don't store any personal info.
When do you actually receive the money?
The hire payment stays with Goboony until 24 hours after the hire begins. At that point, we instruct Stripe to start transferring it to your bank account.
Because Stripe only processes payments on working days (Monday–Friday, excluding bank holidays), the exact timing depends on when your booking starts:
- If the 24-hour mark falls on a weekday, Stripe begins processing that same day.
- If it falls on a weekend or bank holiday, Stripe won't begin processing until the next working day. For example, bookings starting on a Friday or Saturday won't begin processing until the following Monday.
- You'll get an automated email as soon as Stripe begins processing.
- From there, your bank typically takes a further 2–5 working days to credit the funds.
In total, it's normal for the full payout to take up to 5 working days from the start of the hire.
What about the security deposit paid?
The security deposit is held separately by us until the Traveller returns the vehicle. As the Owner, you have 48 hours to decide if any deductions need to be made. If you don't take action, the full security deposit is refunded to the Traveller after 48 hours.
